Realistic TTE probe positioning
This simulator allows for real-time simulated TTE imaging of the virtual heart. The life-size mannequin torso has soft skin with accurate, palpable anatomical landmarks to aid positioning of the hand-held ultrasound probe.
Visualising and interpreting image relationships
On the screen, there is the ability to simultaneously identify the position of the probe on the virtual chest as well as to see the orientation of the ultrasound plane.
The anatomy display includes a representation of the chest wall, ribs, sternum and spine as well as great vessels, lungs, pericardium, diaphragm and liver. These structures are displayed in the ultrasound view with realistic effects on cardiac imaging.
This simulator retains the virtual heart controls and features of the TEE and cardiac anatomy module, along with the ability to generate “slideshow” presentations.
Pathology and Doppler tools
HeartWorks pathology models extend the learning experience by facilitating evaluation of patients with structural and hemodynamic disturbances. In addition, colour and spectral Doppler modalities are available along with the tools with which to make a quantitative assessment.
