More about HeartWorks Pathology 2…

Accompanying notes on the pathology models highlight the echocardiographic features displayed. The superb interactive functionality of the HeartWorks software is retained, including measurement capability.

Aortic stenosis

Demonstrating the features of calcific aortic stenosis including restricted motion of calcified leaflets, left ventricular hypertrophy and poststenotic dilation of the ascending aorta.

Mitral stenosis

This representation of rheumatic mitral valve disease includes thickened leaflets and cords, commissural fusion, characteristic ‘hockey-sticking’ of the anterior mitral leaflet and left artrial dilation.

Mitral regurgitation

This model illustrates the structural changes associated with excessive leaflet motion resulting from posterior leaflet prolapse with associated left atrial dilation.
